Description

Product photography is slow, expensive, and impossible before the product exists. This one-day course shows you how to produce convincing, photo-quality imagery straight from your CAD data instead. Working through the official SOLIDWORKS Visualize curriculum with a highly experienced local trainer, you'll take a model from import to finished render, then build up the three skills that separate a flat CAD screenshot from a credible product image: authoring realistic materials, applying branding and labels as decals, and setting up cameras with proper composition and depth of field. The course is scoped deliberately to SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard, the complimentary seat included with every SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium licence on active subscription — so most teams can attend without buying additional software. By the end of the day you'll be able to produce marketing- and review-ready stills of your own products, independently.

  • The SOLIDWORKS Visualize interface, palette and viewport
  • Importing CAD data and choosing the right import and part-grouping settings
  • Render Selection, render engines, the Denoiser and Easy Mode
  • Working with appearances, file libraries and the colour picker
  • Appearance types — metal, plastic, glass, car paint, wood, leather and textile
  • Textures and texture mapping methods
  • Applying, layering and mapping decals for branding and labelling
  • Scenes and backplates for presenting your product in context
  • Camera setup — aspect ratio, orientation, positioning and composition
  • Depth of field, focal distance and aperture
  • Post-processing filters, including bloom and toon
  • Producing a finished render with the Render Wizard

Prerequisites

  • Experience with the Windows operating system
  • Some experience operating a conventional camera (helpful, not essential)
  • Access to SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard or Professional
